About US

The FBC MonArc is a local American Baptist church with a long history in the San Gabriel Valley. Its three main purposes are to worship God, serve God locally, nationally, and internationally, fulfilling Christ’s commission in Matthew 28:19-20, and to minister to the needs of its members and others as the church is able.

What We Believe

  • God made everything and everyone. He gives us life.
  • The Bible is a love-letter from God to us. It shows us how to live.
  • Jesus is God’s son. He came to restore our relationships with God.
  • The Holy Spirit gives us constant contact with God. Disobeying God separates us from Him.
  • God’s gift of love opens the door to a relationship with Him.
  • Jesus’ death and resurrection is that free gift of love.
  • Faith is the only way to receive the gift.
  • Those who accept the gift will spend eternity in heaven with God.
  • Jesus is coming back.
  • The church’s purpose is to love and serve people the way Jesus did.

Our History

FBC MonArc began in Duarte in 1884 when a group of Christians wanted to worship together. In 1881, Baptist families formed the Duarte Baptist Church. In 1886, W.N. Monroe, for whom the city of Monrovia is named, gifted land for a new building which was built on the corner of Olive and Canyon. As the congregation grew, a larger building was needed, and the current building was erected. It was dedicated in 1912. Over the years, a parsonage and educational building were added to the property. Although the number of individuals attending church has decreased, FBC MonArc now shares our special property with other churches, ministries, and community groups.
